The Blooket Alternative When the Points Have to Mean Something
Blooket is a great way to make a Tuesday review feel like an arcade. It was never meant to document that your team understood the new policy.

Blooket's model is unusual and works well for schools: hosting is free, the question bank is enormous and largely user-built, and the reward loop sits in the game modes — Gold Quest, Café, Tower Defense — where correct answers buy progress inside a mini-game. Blooket Plus at $4.99 a month billed annually ($9.99 month-to-month) raises the room cap from 60 to 300 players, unlocks extra modes and adds detailed per-question reports.
For professional training the gaps are structural rather than cosmetic. Question sets support multiple choice and typed answers — true/false is a two-option multiple choice — so there is no cloze text, no sorting task, no rating scale or slider, and no way to grade a written answer on meaning. There is no LTI integration, no course structure, no pass mark, no certificate, and no published business tier: the group licences on offer are sold by teacher seats to schools.
InsightQuiz is built for the session that has consequences. Nine scored question types, 30 participants free and up to 2,000 on Business, self-paced lessons and multi-lesson courses that finish with a pass mark and a dated PDF certificate, SM-2 flashcards, AI grading for open text and a diagnostic report that names the weakest concepts rather than the fastest player. Where Blooket is clearly ahead: free unlimited hosting, the size of its community question bank and the pull its game modes have with younger learners.

Free hosting versus a defensible record
Blooket's free tier is genuinely generous, and for a classroom that is often the end of the argument. The trade-off is what the platform is willing to promise about the learning. Points are earned inside a mini-game where strategy and luck move the scoreboard as much as knowledge does, detailed per-question reporting sits behind Plus, and a game ends with a winner rather than a result you could show a manager or an auditor.
InsightQuiz treats the session as measurement. Every question carries a concept tag and a difficulty; the report shows group average, the three weakest concepts, response time against success rate, an engagement curve and a guessing-suspicion indicator; a course can require a pass mark and issue a dated PDF certificate; and everything exports to CSV or PDF. If somebody later asks who completed the training and what they scored, there is an answer.
