The Wooclap Alternative That Continues After the Session

Wooclap is excellent at the live question. InsightQuiz starts there and adds what a term needs: self-paced lessons, courses, certificates, AI-graded open answers — in one product, at one flat price.

Wooclap is the closest thing to a like-for-like competitor: a European tool, EU-hosted, LTI 1.3 with grade passback for Canvas, Brightspace and Moodle, participants who join without an account, and a live-question engine with more question types than anyone in the category. Its free tier is generous for a single event.

The differences begin after the session. Wooclap's asynchronous mode covers a self-paced quiz, but there is no course that strings sessions together, no certificate at the end, and no AI grading of open-text answers. Spaced repetition lives in a separate product, Wooflash, with its own subscription.

InsightQuiz keeps everything in one workspace at one flat price: the live quiz, the self-paced lesson, the course, the certificate, the graded free-text question and the flashcard deck. It has fewer question types than Wooclap and no attendance feature — if your use is the single lecture with a word cloud and a poll, Wooclap's free plan may be all you need.

One product or two

Wooclap and InsightQuiz agree on the live format, on EU hosting and on LTI. They differ on where learning is supposed to happen next. Wooclap treats the session as the product and sells spaced repetition separately; InsightQuiz treats the session as the first step and includes the lesson, the course, the certificate and the flashcards in the same subscription.

For a single event that difference is irrelevant. For a course that runs a term — where the instructor wants a completion record, a graded reflection and a way for students to revise — it is the whole decision.

Choose InsightQuiz when

  • The live session should lead into a self-paced lesson or a course
  • Completion should produce a PDF certificate
  • Open-text answers should be graded, not just collected
  • Flashcards should be part of the same product, not a second subscription
  • You want one flat price for a department instead of per-instructor seats

Stay with Wooclap when

  • You need one of Wooclap's many specialised question types
  • Your use is one-off events, where the free plan is enough
  • Attendance tracking is part of your course policy
  • You already run Wooflash alongside Wooclap

Common questions

Yes — Frankfurt, Germany. Like Wooclap there is no US data region; both say so. For a US institution that requires US residency, neither tool fits today.

Wooclap's free plan allows a large audience but caps questions per event; InsightQuiz's free plan allows 30 participants per session with no cap on sessions or questions, plus one course and three flashcard decks. For a one-off lecture with two polls, Wooclap's free plan is the better deal; for regular teaching, the InsightQuiz free plan goes further.

No. InsightQuiz has nine — multiple choice, true/false, free text with AI grading, cloze, sorting, rating scales, word clouds, polls and image-based questions. Wooclap lists more than twenty, including several specialised formats. If a specific type is essential to your teaching, check it exists before switching.

Not as InsightQuiz does. Wooclap has an asynchronous mode for self-paced quizzes but no multi-lesson course and no certificate on completion. InsightQuiz issues a branded PDF certificate when a course or lesson is passed.

There is no Wooclap importer. Multiple-choice questions can be brought in through the Kahoot spreadsheet format — a simple .xlsx with question, four answers and the correct index — or regenerated from your material with the AI generator.

Same live session. Plus the course, the certificate and the grade.

Free plan, no credit card. Run a session, then build the lesson that follows it.
